FOIL BOARDING
Foil Boarding is VERY different to Kiteboarding. To start, there is no feeling in your feet of moving across the water, there is no sound, it’s actually very peaceful and surreal. You can carry on a conversation with another rider next to you without raised voices, especially when riding downwind. Determining speed is different because it isn’t conveyed by the feeling water hitting the surface of your board. You can foil in winds so light, your friends can have a pleasant time on the beach without get blasted with sand. You can cover ground you never thought was possible and finally, you can ride VERY fast (on the right foil). It’s definitely worth the plunge!
WHAT TO EXPECT IN YOUR FIRST LESSON OF FOIL BOARDING
We will walk you through the difference between kiteboarding and foil boarding, how the foil board moves through the ocean
You will be using a beginner friendly low speed foil
A beginner board with only the front foot strap
You’ll be fitted with an impact vest, helmet and maybe booties
You will start on a short mast and gradually increase length as you improve
Use wave kites or dedicated foiling inflatable kites (ie none, one, two or three strut kites)
Keep your knees bent
When you think you have all your weight on your front foot, put more weight on your front foot … repeat!
The process is short and steep, but very rewarding
